Rare John Denver Songs « Thread Started on Mar 4, 2007, 10:28am »
If you've never heard John's cover of "The Weight," you simply have to go out and get it, now.
I first heard it when I stole downloaded it off the internet, trying my darnedest to get all the JD songs I could get, regardless of if I knew them or not.
I bought it (legally, mind you), when I got "The Definitive Hits of John Denver," and it was one of the bonus tracks.
This may sound odd, being JD and all, but he really ROCKS in that song! I wonder if, when he did it, he just wanted to see if he COULD do a rock song ("Johnny B Goode" on the JD album notwithstanding....) I've gotten so I really love his version of it (I can't remember who made it big way back when... The Ozark Mountain Daredevils? Just guessing really).
Another rarity that I found, and I have no idea where it originates: "Turn, Turn, Turn."
I've found on download sites that the person who's the source (okay, their hard drive) often puts John Denver for the artist, when it's not really (one major fubar: John Denver singing "American Pie.") So I see this and figure, What the hey, and download it... and it's REALLY JOHN DENVER!
Have any of you heard him sing "Turn, Turn, Turn"?? If so, do you know where it originated?
