John the Caretaker of Mother Earth
« Thread Started on Feb 10, 2007, 3:50pm »

~John was an environmentalist before it was politically correct. It did not make him a lot of friends at first. "Because he spoke to fish in the creek He tried to tell us that the animals could speak.... Who knows? Perhaps they do~ How do you know they don't just because they've never spoken to you?" But I Honor him very much for bringing the awareness of the many issues to the publics 'not-want-to-know' eye. As a Native American I Honor him for 'Walking his Talk'. He got out there & got dirty, tired and told the world the truth like it or not. If he did not know, he learned so he could teach the world better. When I think of 'Mr. Peabody's coal train has hauled it away' line and 'Try to tear the mountains down to bring in a couple more' line makes me think of him Honoring the 'Bones' of the Mother. All the work with Jacques Cousteau the ocean , whales and dolphins makes me think of him Honoring the 'Blood' of the Mother and his work with the Tree's which are the Mother's 'Lungs' All the polar bears & eagles he saved-I Thank him for ALL this. All the Awards and Medals and being Honored for being a Humanitarian and Environmentalist makes me so proud of him. Peace. His message about Peace in his lyrics and his way of life, and speaking out is even more important with today's unrest, anger and war's. There are many Native Americans that are my hero, but John's eyes, laugh, music, way of life and efforts make him my Big Hero. 'He Who Sees Eagles' will always mean more to me than I can express. "To live on the land, we must learn from the sea" I see him as a caretaker and spokesman for the Mother.

You captured so much of what he did so well, eaglenthehawk, thank you.

When Steve Irwin passed away, I and many I talked to online realized how very similar he and John were, in many ways. Not only their love of the Earth and wildlife (although that's a biggie!) but even in their looks. I never realized that they both were blond, both had brown eyes, similar builds. Kind of makes me think of them both as brothers in the spirit, "Wildlife Warriors" as Steve called himself and those who would also work to save the Earth and all her creatures. And they both went out doing what they love the most.

Sigh, I miss them both so much, but I'm pleased their legacies live on in their children, loved ones and fans around the world who didn't even know them personally.

I exalted you, eaglenthehawk, just for inquiring!

Notice the "exalt" or "smite" thingies under people's names? You can do one or the other, one per hour, to whomever you choose.

I know there's code to change them. I'll try to think of something JD-esque to put in there. Suggestions are most welcomed.
